Simon Cowell: William Shatner Should Replace me on 'American Idol'

ET
There is a vacant seat behind the judge's table on "American Idol" after Simon Cowell gave his closing remarks Wednesday night on the season finale. Tears were shed by contestants, fellow judges, and music legends and all agree it will be a difficult task to replace the witty Brit who founded the show.
Newly crowned champion Lee DeWyze knows that "it's going to be hard to fill his shoes." Runner-up Crystal Bowersox labeled Simon as "an undeniable force." Last season's winner Kris Allen echoed that "he's the face of the show."
It has not yet been announced by FOX who will step up to the plate, but some "Idol" insiders offered some suggestions to ET's Kevin Frazier.
Carrie Underwood conspired, "I think there's enough 'Idols' now. Maybe we could all come back and do something." Rock star Bret Michaels said he's ready for a new challenge after battling recent health ailments: "I think I could do an amazing job…I have lived and breathed music my entire life and I could give real constructive criticism."
Fellow judge Kara DioGuardi is setting the standards high for her new colleague. She said, "You really need to have that expertise and Simon had that. He also was very charming and he was funny and he was charismatic. If you can combine all those things into one person, that's who I would put on the panel."
Putting differences and opinions aside, Randy Jackson and Kara will both miss their pal very much. Randy said that it was great to have "the original dream team" of himself, Simon, Paula Abdul, and Ryan Seacrest back in the house because "we started this journey together."
Determined not to smudge her makeup with tears, Kara said the night was emotional. "When that confetti comes down and you know it's the last moment that Simon's going to be on the show and Lee's singing the winner's song, it's hard not to be moved by that," she recalled.

10 years after Israel's withdrawal from south Lebanon/ Elias Bejjani & Charbel Barakat

Meanwhile, the Israeli withdrawal from south Lebanon on May 23/2000 was not hailed by our people, because practically it was the beginning of a new tragedy that was added to the many Lebanese tragedies. Why was there this bitter feeling and why is it still painful after 10 years?
The other question is why our people who are patriotic and adore their land have decided at that time to leave their beloved country and go into exile in neighbouring Israel? Did they actually follow the withdrawing Israeli army? The intention of this editorial is not to delve into many analyses, but to summarize the actual reasons that made our people hastily cross the border and seek refuge in Israel: 1-At that time Lebanon was still under the oppressive Syrian occupation and its mere decision making process was fully controlled by Syria, the occupier.2- Hezbollah, an armed militia, which is totally affiliated to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was in control of Lebanon's Shiite communities culturally, ideologically, militarily and economically, especially in numerous parts of the south.3- The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) stationed in south Lebanon failed in their duty of reassuring the citizens of their safety, did not show any interest in the outcome of the Israeli withdrawal, did not negotiate with the southern citizens in the absence of the Lebanese authorities or even ask for their opinion or protect them. While Israel was logistically preparing for the withdrawal, Hezbollah waged a merciless and savage media campaign against the southern Lebanese citizens. The campaign was aired publicly on all local and international TV channels and radio stations. The most frightening threats were uttered personally by Hezbollah's Secretary General, Sheik Nasrallah, who savagely said, We will enter their bedrooms, pierce their stomachs, slaughter them and slice their throats.
But Nasrallahs threats did not frighten the South Lebanon Army (SLA), on the contrary this rhetoric was ridiculed on May 18/2000, six days before the Israeli withdrawal, when the Hezbollah militia tried to overcome and control one of the SLA posts at the "Hamra Bridge". The attack failed badly and Hezbollah suffered huge losses.Facing this disastrous milieu and all the other uncertainties, southern citizens were left with two bitter options: to militarily defend their land, engage with Hezbollah and repeat the status that prevailed before 1978; or to succumb to Hezbollah, surrender their weapons and live under its authority. Encountering this dilemma, they decided to avoid more Lebanese bloodshed and to leave Lebanon, the country that they cherished, without a fight and take refuge in Israel. As a result of the Israeli withdrawal, there has been an enormous global escalation of terrorism not only in the Middle East, but in many other countries. Progress of peace efforts suffered a remarkable setback and worldwide violence prevailed leading to the 9/11 attacks and to subsequent acts of terrorism throughout Europe and the rest of the world. The Free World countries responded by waging a massive global military anti-terrorism campaign that primarily focused on both Iraq and Afghanistan. Subsequently, the international community tried to amend the fatal mistakes that were committed in Lebanon and issued UN Security Council Resolution 1559 that addressed three important issues:1-Syrian occupation: It called for the immediate withdrawal of the Syrian army from Lebanon.2-Weapons of terrorism: It called for the disarming of all militias, and in particular, of Hezbollah.3- Safeguarding Lebanon's democratic system: It called for free parliamentary elections without Syrian interference.UN Resolution 1559 provided the Lebanese people with the incentives to take action. Accordingly, the Cedar Revolution emerged and the Lebanese people by the hundreds of thousands peacefully took to the streets forcing the withdrawal of the Syrian army.
Unfortunately, this revolution did not finish the job, which gave Hezbollah the route to brazenly escape and instigate a war with Israel in 2006. Sadly, due to the Lebanese authorities and politicians hesitation, poor judgment and lack of courage, they did not fully utilize the available circumstances to finish off the Hezbollah phenomenon. Instead Hezbollah besieged the government's headquarters, alleged a divine victory on Israel in the 2006 war, and on May 07 and 11/2008, invaded the western section of the capital Beirut and attempted to conquer the Shouf Mountain, enforcing a new national balance equation in a bid to abort the Cedar Revolution and circumvent and cripple UN Resolution 1559.http://www.clhrf.com/un%20documents/1559.english1.htm
The Iranian endeavours for not allowing the disarmament of Hezbollah unveiled the actual elements of her plot:1-A well set plan to expand Iran's hegemony on the whole Middle East.2-The establishment of a military base In Eretria and Yemen.3-The mobilization of the Shiite Houthis tribes on the Saudi -Yemeni border.4-Supporting and instigation of instability in neighbouring Iraq.5-The formation of numerous sleeping militant cells among the Shiite Arabian Gulf countries' communities.6-Keeping Egypt unfocused on the actual Iranian scheme through instigation of strife between Egypt and other African countries that share the Nile River.7- Playing with and tickling Muslims emotions and instigating religious fanaticism to fight Israel through Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza.
At the same time, Iran has been working day and night to become a nuclear power and possess a nuclear weapon that is intended to be used for intimidating the Middle East countries, control their resources and wealth and have a monopoly on the region's fate and decisions.
Hezbollah is pivotal for all of the above Iranian schemes and a primary source of manpower. Its militant members who number in the tens of thousands speak the Arabic language, are ideologically and religiously well prepared, and more than ready to carry out missions in any country as instructed.
There is no doubt that the current situation in the whole Middle East in general, and in Israel and Lebanon in particular, is much worse from the day the Israeli withdrawal from south Lebanon was implemented 10 years ago. The Iranian danger to both Israel and Lebanon is escalating. Lebanon did not enjoy any kind of stability despite the UN Resolutions, the bitter events' experience, the great sacrifices and the presence of new players (powers) on its arena.
Sadly, Lebanon is now living a repeat of same ghastly milieu that prevailed in 1982: tension, instability, chaos, and forced absence of any input on what goes on its land. The war-peace decision making process is again in the hands of Syria and Iran, while weapons of all kinds are smuggled to Hezbollah and to other Lebanese - Palestinian armed terrorist groups via Syria without any kind of control or impunity.
Based on all of the above, we request:1- Lebanese officials to be prudent, patient, thoughtful and not to fall prey to the axis of evils schemes, terrorism, fanaticism, violence, intimidation, and whims of sabotage. Their patriotic duties and obligations as responsible Lebanese officials and leaders are to help in making Lebanon a country of peace, prosperity, freedom and stability in the region and not to be an arena and battlefield for Iran, Syria and their armed proxies. They must be aware that for the past 30 years, our Lebanese people have endured much more than they can tolerate, and as the saying goes: "He who does not learn from the past cannot make the future."
2- The Cedar Revolutions masses to hold dearly to their solid faith in a free, sovereign and independent Lebanon that should not under any circumstances be an aggressor, but a peace maker and an advocate for human rights and democracy. We encourage the masses to actively help in preserving the historic Lebanese role in hailing the right of all countries and people in the region to live freely without any kind of oppression. Lebanon's mission and message are to protect the weak and the oppressed and not to hail the conceited and arrogant.
3- Neighbouring Syria to overcome its ongoing expansionism schemes and accept once and forever the reality that Lebanon is an independent and sovereign country and not a Syrian territory or satellite. Accordingly, the joint borders must be patrolled and all kinds of infiltration and smuggling permanently stopped.4- Israel to re-evaluate the achievements and setbacks of her withdrawal decision; meanwhile, We agree fully with Moshe Arens's analysis of May 17/10, which stated: "Chief among the assumptions underlying the decision to withdraw unilaterally was that once Hezbollah had achieved its stated goal of freeing southern Lebanon from Israeli occupation, it would restrict its activities to the Lebanese political arena and abandon further military operations against Israel. Secondly, should Hezbollah, nevertheless, continue military actions against Israeli targets after the withdrawal, Israel believed it would then be free to respond with drastic military actions that would dissuade Hezbollah from engaging in further military activities against Israel. Well, wrong on both counts. After the Israeli withdrawal, Hezbollah not only did not disband its militia but intensively armed itself, including the acquisition of large numbers of long-range rockets, and developed from a guerrilla band into a well-trained and -equipped military force." http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/opinion/withdrawal-right-for-the-wrong-reasons-1.290772
5-The Free World and Arab countries to completely support a free and democratic Lebanon and take a courageous stance in this regard before it is too late. A regime in Lebanon fully under the direct control of Syria or Iran or through their armed proxies is a dire threat to peace and stability to not only the Middle East but to the whole world.
6- Our people, the southern Lebanese citizens, who have been living a forced exile in Israel since May 2000 to remain as tall as Lebanon's Holy Cedars. They should know that the free Lebanese people hail their heroism, courage, peaceful inclinations, acceptance of others, tolerance, patriotism, sacrifices, love of their homeland and deeply rooted faith. We know that they have proudly, honourably and courageously defended their beloved land and rights and never attacked others. We assure them that Lebanon wont have long lasting stability until their honoured and dignified unconditional return is achieved.

Horatio Caine Discovers Betrayal in the Ranks on 'CSI: Miami'

When Horatio Caine's (David Caruso) girlfriend is killed in an explosion, the CSI's look within the department to find her killer on tonight's episode of "CSI: Miami" -- and ET is on the set for the explosive drama!
"It appears that someone is stealing evidence and this has gone back a couple of years," says David, explaining the storyline. "As we get closer to the truth, we realize it is someone who is among us that is behind this series of crimes."
The case heats up with the murder of a state attorney and Horatio is heartbroken to discover that a man who was his partner years back -- John "Sully" Sullivan (Brad Leland) -- is a part of the dangerous group of people involved. A shoot-out ensues and Sully takes a hit.
"It is really painful. It is one of those moments you can't imagine happening. I have no other choice but to bring him in," David continues. "Thank God he survives the gunshot wound. We have a sequence where he is being loaded onto the ambulance. Eric Delko (Adam Rodriguez) comes in and gets the story back on track. I think it is appropriate that Eric is there because he is family and Sully is family."
Eric's character is actually Horatio's ex brother-in-law. Horatio had been married to Eric's sister Marisol, who was killed by the Mala Noche on their wedding day. David thinks that their connection through that storyline has made Eric's presence on the show one of the keys to the series' success, so he is happy that Adam will be back full-time next season.
"There is also another bonding there," David says. "We took a trip to Brazil and we were involved in an incident there that keeps us close. I feel the show comes together around this partnership, so it is essential that [Adam] is back."
"CSI: Miami" airs tonight at 10 p.m. on CBS.

Teen girl killed 'after rejecting boyfriend

By ninemsn staff
A 14-year-old German girl was killed after she refused the romantic advances of a 16-year-old because she felt too young for a relationship, according to reports.
Schulerin Derya was allegedly stabbed to death by the boy, who has only been identified as Kaan B, in the small rural town of Bad Saulgau.
Friends and relatives told German media that the pair had been a couple but that Derya always felt too young for a firm commitment.
They speculated Kaan B murdered her after she revealed her true feelings.
It is alleged Kaan B stole his parent's car on Friday morning last week and drove to a playground, where he spotted Derya and offered to give her a lift to school.
German police said that after Derya entered the car Kaan B stabbed her repeatedly, before he ran to his father and confessed to the crime.
His father drove the girl to hospital, where she later died of internal injuries.
"I can not understand how could this happen," the father told German news website Bild.de.
Police have since arrested the teenager and he is awaiting trial.

Michael Douglas' Hometown New York Night

Michael Douglas stepped out in his home city of New York on Tuesday to premiere his new movie, 'Solitary Man.'
The film not only premiered in New York, it was also filmed in the Big Apple. "I live in New York, so it's great because it's nice to go home at night and see the kids and your wife. It's a great city to film. And it's just worked out between 'Solitary Man,' and [my upcoming movie] 'Wall Street,' I've been shooting here a lot," Douglas told ET at the premiere.
The iconic actor said that the next days will be full of "planes, trains, automobiles, and hopefully no volcanic ash," as he heads off to the Cannes Film Fest, then to Los Angeles, and then back to New York.
"The Office" star Jenna Fischer, who plays Douglas' daughter in the film, promised, "This is a great movie to see quintessential Michael Douglas. ... It's a great performance, he's amazing."
Jenna also had words of encouragement for Barbara Walters, who announced Monday that she's having heart surgery. "I wish her well," she said, noting, "I'm a big fan."
'Solitary Man' stars Douglas as a former car dealer who lost his business after he made some bad decisions. In the film, he's on the verge of bouncing back when his own choices could, once again, make everything he's worked for go up in flames. Susan Sarandon and Mary Louise Parker co-star.
'Solitary Man' opens in theaters on May 21.

God's Wrath & Enmity Perpetrators/ Elias Bejjani
Proverbs 26:27: "Whoever digs a pit shall fall into it. Whoever rolls a stone, it will come back on him"
When people face hardships of any kind, and on any level, or magnitude, they are ideally required to stand up tall, confront them in a civilized manner, engage quietly and intelligently, analyze the situation at hand discretionally, consider the consequences of all potential decisions logically, and evaluate with modesty and fear of god capabilities, rights, weaknesses and strengths of all parties involved directly or indirectly.
At the same time those dealing with the crisis must understand thoroughly the intentions, means, situations, stances, demands and capabilities of the adversary or adversaries.
They need to go through available options and decide on the one or ones that are fair not only for themselves, but also for the individual or individuals whom they are having the problem with.
Based on all data available and fear of God, the person encountering the difficulty has to take a clear and straight forward stance, face the situation at hand with the utmost fairness and genuinely engage to reach a satisfactory ending. He has to defend what is his, but also should not unfairly take what belongs to others.
Wise, normal and faithful people assume their responsibilities and courageously face the difficult situations in a bid to solve them. They openly acknowledge what are their rights and what are the others' rights. They take responsibility for their actions and accept fair solutions and shall have no objection for making helpful compromises.
While there are those who face, engage, communicate, take and give in a bid to solve the crisis they are involved in, there are still others who try to avoid the confrontation and run away through different strategies of escape mechanism in the hope that the crisis will solve it self or disappear. What a naive kind of strategy!!.
It is important to know for a fact that when a person closes his eyes, it is true that momentarily he does see, but this childish behavior does not make people or things he is not seeing while his eyes are closed to disappear. Such wishful thinking can be fulfilled only in dreams and fantasy scenarios.
This same principle of avoidance applies to problems, crisis, hardships and difficulties. They do not vanish and cease to be there when we for any reason pretend that they do not exist, avoid encountering them, or turn our head to the other side and walk away.
Definitely, this easy babyish avoidance attitude does not mean under any given circumstances that the problems have been solved, vanished or became less. The avoidance-avoidance approach is a mere self deceiving stupid game that mostly bring more problems, or make them even more difficult to deal with.
In general people who are insecure, pompous, conceited, arrogant, some what stupid and mostly rich do not take into consideration the dire consequences of their deeds, especially when hurting others. They seem to forget that others have feelings, emotions, rights, dignity and self respect. They become blind and deaf to the fact that others shall respond, and it is their right to do so. How do they respond? It differs based on the magnitude and severity of the harm inflicted.
The rich and conceited fool themselves and do not take into account that people will react and some times with violent means to protect themselves. They will surely react when threatened physically or emotionally, when their personal space infringed on, when their belongings unfairly taken from them, when deprived from their rights, when dealt with unjustly, when insulted, when their feelings ridiculed, when betrayed and when underestimated.
No individual shall be untouchable, safe and live happily when venomously, intentionally and vindictively inflict pain on others. In general victims do not swallow insults easily, or sleep for long on atrocities. They usually react when their lives are made miserable by evil people who have numbed conscience and brag ingratitude stances.
Underestimating the victims' righteous self defense reactions is A deadly mistake!! For, He who would love life, and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil, and do good. Let him seek peace, and pursue it" (Peter's First Letter 03/10-11)
Evil perpetrators do not fear God's wrath, do not believe in any code of ethics, and have no morals. What becomes much more worse than the harm itself is when the perpetrators' self inflated ego fools them to flagrantly pretend that those whom he they hurt are trash, worthless, weak, helpless and unable to seek revenge.
Perpetrators' detachment from reality makes them cease all means of communication with their victims. They stupidly keep on refusing to engage and stubbornly do nothing to alleviate their victims' pain.
Such selfish individuals become an easy prey for Satan's temptation due to their lack of both faith and hope. They lose track and act with covetousness, greed, malice, deceit, licentiousness, envy, blasphemy, arrogance and folly. They turn into sinners and into evil creatures possessed by demons.
These individual no matter how powerful, rich, strong or influential they are, no one would be able to save them from God's wrath and revenge. No one can spare them from Gehenna and its unquenchable fire".
Who will punish such perpetrators and make them pay for their evil deeds? Definitely God will.
("Deuteronomy 32:35 'Vengeance is Mine, and retribution, In due time their foot will slip; For the day of their calamity is near, And the impending things are hastening upon them").
("Romans 12:19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY," says the Lord.")
Let's pray that Almighty God may save us from temptation, and rescue with His love all those who Satan has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their hearts, and would turn to God to heal them.

The court heard that the woman lured him out of his flat via mobile phone. Ms Khatoon and her husband, Shakeel Abassi, have since disappeared to Pakistan.
The woman's brother, another man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested in relation to attack, which damaged 47 percent of the man's body.

University athlete charged with student's murder

By ninemsn staff
A promising university lacrosse player has been charged with the murder of a female player.
George Huguely, a 22-year-old student from the University of Virginia in the US, is alleged to have killed Yeardley Love.
Police were called by Love's roommate about 2.15am yesterday amid fears the fourth-year student had suffered alcohol poisoning.
But officers found Love, also 22, dead with noticeable injuries on her body.
Huguely, who had been recently involved in a romantic relationship with the victim, was quickly taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder.
"It was quickly apparent to them that this young lady was the victim of something far worse [than drinking]," the Associated Press quoted Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo as saying.
The cause of death is yet to be released but it is not believed any weapons were involved.
University athletics director Craig Littlepage said Love was "a person who was described as an angel by teammates and friends", while school president John Casteen said she "deserved the bright future she earned".
"She deserves to be remembered for her human goodness [and] her capacity for future greatness," Mr Casteen said.
The accused and victim had been regular players for their highly-ranked university teams and both were due to graduate next month.
Huguely is being held in custody.
