Maronite Eparchy of Australia: THE IRAQI LENTEN APPEAL

“In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

During the Lenten Season, the Maronite Eparchy of Australia held an appeal for internally displaced Christians in Erbil, Iraq for much needed everyday items. Donated goods were collected by the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and they have now been sent by a container to Iraq.

With your support, we were able to send items valued at $113,000, that included rice, sugar, tea, stationery, clothing, manchester, school furniture and household furniture. Your charitable deeds have shown one more time the sincerity and commitment of the Maronite community in Australia, and that we have not forgotten our Christian brothers and sisters in the Middle East, especially in Iraq.

The people of Iraq have an enduring faith in Jesus Christ that is forever strengthened in the face of their plight. We pray for the intercession of Our Lady to ease their pains and to grant them the courage to face adversity while taking strength from their faith. We also remember all our brothers and sisters in the Middle East, who are suffering, so that they may soon find peace and freedom, praying to the Lord to put an end to the war, and give them a sign for a better future in their land.
