Prayer in the midst of the flood/ Fr. Yousif Nebeel Jazrawy
From the depth of the deluge
and in a hopeless hope, I tried to get god,s attention in Baghadadi dialect
That was heard even by those who were deaf:
Lord
The city that is know among the nations as the city of peace.
Although her real name is the widow of joy.
Had no refuge but you whenever the sirens played on her harps and the wars and the catastrophes turned off the lights of her streets.
She lit candles for you in prayer…
And behold the deluge belw out her candles will you lord receive her in the heavenly kingdom without a black veil.
and without blood stained clothes?
This holy city his not committed any sin, but in her rulers.
She was hungry for tranquility.
And they only fed her sedatives which crushed her between war and war, tragedy and deluge.
Will the world declare three days of mourning for her?
Or will you say to her:” go in peace, your faith has saved you.”
Hey, Lord
I just have to tell you this, the history of my city will not be destroyed by a ruler, or by politics or by
a delude.
Lord, hear my petition, Amen.
